Monica Brashears is an Affrilachian writer from Tennessee and a former undergraduate Creative Writing major right here at UT. She is a graduate of Syracuse University’s MFA program. Her work has appeared in Nashville Review, Split Lip Magazine, Appalachian Review, The Masters Review, and more. Her debut novel, The House of Cotton, is forthcoming from Flatiron Books. She lives in Syracuse, NY where she is at work on her second novel.
